Program Description

Event Details

Join Iowa historical fiction author, Ann Hanigan Kotz, as she brings you through Iowa’s Suffrage and WWI years. Ann begins her program with the history of Iowa’s Suffrage movement and continues with the issues surrounding it. She brings forth the leaders of Iowa’s movement as well as events in support of and opposition to women getting the vote. Ann then transitions to WWI, relaying the overall impact of the war on Iowans. She introduces her audience to some well known and unknown Iowa heroes and then delves into the conditions at home--a frightening time for Germans living in Iowa. Ann finishes the presentation by connecting her own family to the war.
